Yes, people! ‘Tis another wine publication for you to read.
Except, I’m not going to try to demystify wine for you. There are plenty of (good) wine professionals and enthusiasts out there already doing an amazing job at that— I’m even following a few of their Substacks. What I’m going to do is invite you along with me (virtually) and just enjoy drinking the rotten grape juice. We will discuss art, literature, adventures, places, dogs! Especially dogs.
Your family and best friend might be tired of listening to you chat endlessly about how adorable your fuzzy best friend is, but I’m not. I’m totally here for it. Dogs are amazing. I want photos, videos, and to hear about that funny thing they did last Thursday. Besides, the best thing in life is drinking a glass of wine outside with your dog. That is three things that produce dopamine in one experience. Name something better.
This is really what Wines & Woofs is about. It’s about slowing ourselves down and being present. It’s about the experience. It’s about love. And just like a couple of #besties4ever that charter a van to go wine touring in Napa (or wherever), wine can be both the catalyst, instigator, and/ or facilitator to discovering a bit more about ourselves (and those besties).
So, as we move forward, here is what you need to know about me (the writer of Wines & Woofs).
First and foremost, I’m a multi-disciplinary artist. “What does that mean?”, you might ask (or didn't)— I’m going to tell you. It means I’m very passionate about a lot of things (and I’m pretty good at these things, too). I’ll share my art and passions with you as things come up and develop.
I am also a certified sommelier (CMS level 2), with a speciality in Pacific Northwest wines. Even though I might have only been to the PNW three times in my life, I find the wines to be pretty tasty (and there seems to be a lot of sommeliers who know all about French and Italian wines— dare to be different?). There will be plenty of wine articles on here, especially if you ask questions in the comments.
When I pair wine, I pair with dogs to pet. That’s my thing and I’ve been doing it since 2020. You want a food pairing? Google it. You want me to pair a wine to your nine-year-old one-eye pitbull? I got you. (Okay, I miiightt talk about food occasionally… I do like to eat).
I originally launched Wines & Woofs in Spring of 2023 via a Squarespace blog. I didn’t know what I was doing, was also trying to“demystify wine” and didn’t understand my voice (and how I wanted to present that). I’m clearer on that now. So, *SuperMash Bro announcer voice* ROUND 2.
So there you have it.
When you subscribe to Wines & Woofs, you’re subscribing to an adventure filled with wine, art, and exploration. Bring your dog. I will be publishing every other Friday.
